Plaid Wool Blazer

We all have a little bit of a tomboy in us, and so do some of our favourite style icons. In that spirit, we modelled this design after two of menswear’s most versatile jackets, the blazer and sport coat. This blazer has a straight, menswear-inspired cut with a fitted shoulder…so it looks like you stole it from your boyfriend, but it actually complements your body.

Of course women wearing menswear is nothing new. Coco Chanel was one of the first to embrace androgynous style in the twenties, dismissing feminine silhouettes in favour of boxier, more masculine cuts. Over the next two decades, Hollywood stars like Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn and Audrey Hepburn were seen regularly sporting suits and bow ties in popular films and off the screen. Yves Saint Laurent took this to new heights with his ‘Le Smoking’ tuxedo suit, his alternative to the little black dress. He summed it up best himself, ‘For women, the tuxedo is an indispensable outfit, which they feel comfortable with, so they can be who they are. This is style, not fashion. Fads come and go, style is forever.’
