- Fabric story
We found these rolls in a family-run textile warehouse in Italy. They are specialist purveyors of high-end suiting and outerwear fabrics. Having been around for so long, they have developed lasting relationships with a network of European mills and high-end brands, giving them (and now you!) access to exclusive remnant stock on a regular basis.

We took this silhouette from a classic chesterfield coat. The coat was arguably named after Phillip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield. The Chesterfield was interesting as a fashion innovation because, unlike earlier coats, it did not have a waist seam, and was cut quite loosely around the body. This meant that Chesterfields were true overcoats: they could be put on over most other garments, and taken off easily when indoors.
Their introduction into women’s wardrobes, not surprisingly, also saw a huge adaptation in the coats style as they were re-structured to fit female bodies. The loose coat fit perfectly with the more active outdoors lifestyle women were beginning to adopt.
We have further modernised the style with a slightly dropped shoulder and a slimmer body.
